Liberty High School Beta Club/Beta Members Participate/Attend in State Competition
Mountain View, MO, January 16, 17, & 18 – National Beta members from Liberty High School celebrate their recent participation in the Senior Beta State Convention. They were announced winners of the following competitions: Ayla Castaneda/Agriscience, Oliva Jennings/black and white photography, Taylen Luster/French.
National Beta State Convention allows students the opportunity to compete in various individual and team competitions and opportunities to run for several leadership positions. These victories at the state level provide the opportunity to compete at the national level. The National Convention will be held at the Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center in Orlando, Florida during summer 2025.
We are currently in our first year of Senior Beta and have several students qualified to compete at the National Level this summer in Orlando. We are grateful for our student’s participation and commitment to LHS Beta. LHS students are even more excited about more competitions next year after seeing the amazing work of their peers.
We would like to thank LHS administrators, MVBT Board of Education, parents and community/businesses for the outpouring of support as we embark on this new academic club for our students. --

Here is what our kids have to say about Beta State Convention:
“In our first year, I enjoyed seeing everyone else's projects and trading pins was extremely fun. I can't wait for next year.” Kaylee Tillman, 10
“State Beta was a great experience and being able to see all of the competitions made me want to be even more involved and join more. We traded pins there which I didn't realize was such a big thing but experiencing it was so fun. There were so many different talents there and it was something for everyone. I look forward to competing in more events, trading more pins, and seeing everybody's events!” Jetaime Ordway, 10
“State Beta was an extremely exhilarating experience. Everyone there made it feel like going on an adventure with friends. There were kids our age, which made it feel more familiar and even fun food. State Beta has so much to offer like millions of different contests and every school creates trading pins, due to this, trading pins are like making a bunch of friends, and it’s an amazing way to get out of your comfort zone.” Grace Radford, 10
“The state beta trip was a great experience, and I enjoyed every moment of it. From the competitions to meeting new people, it was exciting to be surrounded by so many other students. I loved getting to make new memories with my friends and getting to represent my school. This trip made me excited for the next three years and ready to improve and grow each time. Being a part of beta all four years of high school is something I truly look forward to, and I know it will continue to be an unforgettable journey.”
-Taylen Luster, 9
“The Beta Convention was an amazing opportunity to meet new people and gain new experiences. I got better at public speaking. One of my favorite experiences was watching people in show choir and practical arts perform. I am very excited for my next three years!”
- Morgan Smith, 9
As a junior in Beta and getting to go to the State Competition I enjoyed the atmosphere and everyone coming together. My favorite part was the trading pins, you get to meet really sweet people and find some unique pins. I also really enjoyed watching the singing and dancing performances. It’s fun to see the talent from other schools. I am very excited for the future that LHS Beta holds, I can’t wait.”
-Abbi Bushong, 11
Beta for me was an unforgettable experience! I got to meet new people while trading pins. I was able to spread the light of Jesus with one of the sponsors there. I entered a competition with black and white photography and ended up getting second place which I'm so thankful for. Students should join Beta Club because they can make long-lasting relationships, enhance communication skills, and discover new hobbies or potential career paths while being competitive!
-Olivia Jennings, 10
“State Beta was such a fun experience as a senior. Getting to see everyone’s different talents and personalities thrive in that environment was such an awesome experience to be a part of. Watching the show choir perform with all the different skits and costumes was the most enjoyable part of the whole trip. Trading pins are a big thing in Beta. Getting to trade different pins, meet and talk to new people, and hunt down the rarest pin with some of my best friends was so much fun. The endless memories will forever be cherished.” -Ella Phipps, 12
