For Librarian Appreciation Day we definitely want to take time to tank Mrs. Gaines for all she does for us at LHS! She puts in a lot of hours behind the scenes helping out classes, clubs, events, etc. even though she doesn't have to. Mrs. Gaines wears many hats at LHS and we are very thankful to have her working for our school, students, and community!

This is Mr. Daniels. I haven't heard of any power outages in the district but if you are without power, I will be at the school from 12:30-5:00 for any students and/or their dates to clean up, get dressed, do their hair, etc. Please be safe and I look forward to a fun Prom Night!

PROM will go on as scheduled this evening. I have stressed and drove many roads last night and have been driving roads for over an hour this morning to decide whether to cancel or not. I hope each student is able to make it to Prom and enjoy the evening. This decision is not made lightly. Stay safe and I look forward to a wonderful evening with those who decide to attend Prom!

Many students have asked about Prom. As of now, Liberty High School Prom is still on for tomorrow night (Saturday, 4/5/25). It looks like we will have some heavy rain and storms this afternoon and evening, but the severity of it tapering off in the morning hours and through tomorrow. Prom is scheduled to be at Countryside Barn at Mattison Farms located at 2133 State Hwy WW, Summersville MO 65571. If anything changes, I will send another updated message with that information. Stay safe, and I look forward to seeing the students have fun together at the 2025 PROM! Also, Liberty is still giving the ACT test tomorrow morning. If your student is scheduled to test, the doors will open at 7:30am and the test will begin at 8:00am.

Due to the approaching storm, we will be keeping students at school until we determine it is safe for dismissal. Student safety is our top priority, and we are closely monitoring the situation. During this time, we will follow all storm safety protocols within our buildings to ensure students and staff remain safe. We will send out another alert once we feel it is safe to release students. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we prioritize the well-being of our students. Please stay safe, and we will update you as soon as possible.

Congratulations to Liberty High School Senior, Matthew Roby! Matthew earned “Honorable Mention” in the 2025 Missouri Scholars 100 Program. Columbia, MO, March 6, 2025 – We proudly announce that high school senior Matthew Roby from Liberty High School has been selected for "Honorable Mention" in the prestigious 2025 Missouri Scholars 100 program. This statewide initiative recognizes outstanding academic achievement, honoring Missouri's top 100 graduating students. The nomination was made by John Daniels, Principal, Liberty High School, recognizing the student's exceptional commitment to academic excellence. Sponsored by the Missouri Association of Secondary School Principals, the Missouri Scholars 100 Program invites nominations from schools statewide. Selection is determined by a comprehensive formula incorporating the student's grade point average, ACT or SAT scores, and participation in an "Academic Decathlon" encompassing ten events that assess the student's academic prowess. To qualify, students must meet stringent criteria, including a minimum GPA of 3.750, a minimum ACT score of 29 (or a minimum SAT score of 1,280), ranking in the upper ten percent of their class, and enrollment in high-level courses in mathematics, science, English, and foreign language. Exemplary attendance, outstanding citizenship, and active participation in school activities are also essential. Clark Mershon, Executive Director of the Missouri Association of Secondary School Principals, remarked, "The Missouri Scholars 100 Program stands as one of the premier academic recognition programs in the country, celebrating the dedication and success of students who have upheld the highest academic standards. It is a true celebration of learning."

March 6th, LHS 10th graders toured Southern Missouri Technical Institute in West Plains. Students were introduced to different opportunities such as Carpentry, Welding, Auto Collision. Auto Mechanics, Health Sciences, Pharmacy Tech, and Commercial and Advertising Art. This is a 2-year program that students have the option to apply for and attend while in high school to learn the skills necessary in those fields. The students were well behaved and hopefully some of these programs sparked their interest!

Today, LHS celebrated the 100th day with a little fun! Mrs. Reese and Mrs. Franklin organized a little scavenger hunt and with the help of teachers, they hid 100 poker chips around the school for students to find. In exchange for the poker chip, students were able to turn them in for a variety of candy prizes! Students enjoyed looking for the prizes and were very respectful when finding more than one chip to share them with other students! The Great Poker Chip Hunt was a huge success!
