Eagles Showed Up Big for a Better Together Kick-off on Tuesday Evening!
We want to thank all of the amazing vendors who lined the track to welcome students and families to a brand-new school year. A special shout-out to West Plains Bank for feeding the crowd and to Daniel Seitz, Senator Brad Hudson's Chief of Staff, along with Representative Lisa Durnell and Representative Keith Elliott, who greeted families at the entrance. The Howell County Health Department was also on hand helping students get caught up on vaccines.
Our staff were there to welcome their new students and reconnect with past ones. The Board of Education and Mrs. Tharp greeted families at the entrance with school year calendar magnets and wristbands. Parents also had the opportunity to speak with our transportation department, school nurses, and administrators to make sure students were ready for the first day of school.
A huge thank-you goes out to the teachers who served on the Back to School Kick-off Committee and worked tirelessly throughout the summer to make this event a success. Your hard work and dedication set the tone for an amazing year ahead.
Most importantly, we want to thank our families for showing up for the event and helping their children get off to a great start. Your presence makes all the difference!
From the first smile at the gate to the last goodbye of the evening, our Kick-off reminded us that we are always Better Together! We are looking forward to seeing all of our Liberty Eagles back in school on Monday!

Today, all MVBT R-III employees gathered at Liberty High School to kick off the new school year. We were welcomed by board members Eric Wells and Josh Roberts.
The photo may be a little hard to see, but everyone standing is a proud Liberty High School graduate. The majority of our staff have been lifelong Liberty Eagles! We are grateful for all employees who have landed here at MVBT for the 2025-2026 school year!
Following a short meeting, our staff enjoyed a delicious taco lunch provided by the Mountain View Christian Church. A big thank you to the church for blessing our team with such a wonderful meal as we start the year!

Before this school year officially begins, we want to spotlight the seven members of the Mountain View-Birch Tree R-III Board of Education!
These are the people who give their time, talents, and hearts to help guide our schools. They make important decisions about policies, budgets, and resources. Most importantly, they work to ensure every student in our district has the opportunity to succeed.
You can learn more about each one here: https://secure.smore.com/n/c4jwz
You can also find this information anytime on the homepage of our district’s website.

Reminder: Our Back to School Kick-off is TONIGHT from 5:00–8:00 PM at the football field! Families will need to enter the track at the north entrance by SBU. Several vendors will be set up around the track to welcome you back, and students can meet their teachers. If your child needs immunizations, bring your immunization card and stop by the Health Department’s Mobile Unit. Don’t miss this fun opportunity to kick off the school year! If weather forces a location change, we’ll send another message.

Band Camp 2025 wrapped up yesterday, with the band showing incredible dedication and progress throughout the week.
On the final day, the students did an outstanding job marching at the football field. As a reward for their hard work, they returned to school and enjoyed a board game with Mr. Redden—a fun and relaxing way to end the week.
We’re excited to see our band shine throughout the school year!

Today, Steve Rosa, owner of our local Taco Bell, presented a $5,000 donation from the Taco Bell Foundation to our Care to Learn – 39th Chapter to support the students of the Mountain View–Birch Tree School District! 🎉
Steve shared that young people are the heart and soul of Taco Bell – they are their customers, employees, and future leaders. That belief shines through in this gift, which was made possible by local Taco Bell customers rounding up for education when they eat at Taco Bell. Every few cents truly added up to make a big difference for our kids.
Since 1992, the Taco Bell Foundation has invested in students through education programs and partnerships to help them achieve their goals, with a mission to empower the next generation. This year alone, through nearly 500 Community Grants nationwide, the Foundation has raised over $28 million for communities and student scholarships.
We are so grateful to Steve Rosa, the Taco Bell Foundation, STR Partners, local Taco Bell team members, and our community for believing in our kids and helping meet their needs through Care to Learn.
Keep rounding up for the Liberty Eagles!

Let’s make some noise this year—Go Liberty Eagles Band!

We were honored to welcome Stephen Hall, Chief Communications Officer for Springfield Public Schools, as our guest presenter at the 3rd Annual Board/Admin Retreat!
Stephen shared valuable tips and strategies to help our district strengthen both internal and external communications for the 2025-2026 school year. His insights were practical, inspiring, and tailored to support the continued growth of our schools and community.
As a proud 1997 graduate of Liberty High School, Stephen also took a moment to reflect on his time as a student in our district, sharing fond memories that reminded us all of the lasting impact our schools have on students’ lives.
Thank you, Stephen, for giving back to your roots and helping us move forward!

We’re excited to welcome some special guests to our Back to School Kickoff event!
State Representatives Lisa Durnell (District 154) and Keith Elliott (District 153) will be joining us to help celebrate the start of a great new school year!
Although Senator Brad Hudson is unable to attend, he plans to send someone in his place to support our students and families.
Stop by their booth to say hello and grab a FREE Italian Ice popsicle while supplies last — one per student, please!
This is a great opportunity for students, parents, and staff to connect with our local leaders and learn more about how they represent us in Jefferson City. Don’t miss it!

Stay tuned for more details, but for now—be sure to save the date!

We’re proud to share that four of our Liberty High School juniors—Jihan Hester, Thomas Mansfield, Payton Glasscock, and Mathew Moore—recently attended the three-day Traction Leadership Conference sponsored by MODOT in Cape Girardeau!
They joined over 100 high school students from across Missouri, all united by a powerful mission: to help prevent teen deaths on Missouri highways.
Throughout the conference, our students participated in impactful workshops focused on leadership, highway safety, and advocacy. In the evenings, they enjoyed good, clean team-building fun, including the Traction Olympics—a high-energy event designed to build trust, teamwork, and school spirit.
We’re excited to announce that our students took home FIRST PLACE in the Traction Olympics! Their teamwork, enthusiasm, and leadership truly stood out.
We’re incredibly proud of these students for representing our district with purpose and passion.
